HOW TO PRAY?

Does praying to the Lord seem awkward? Sort of feeling like a fish out of water? Well, you are not alone, many people do at first. A lot  of us don't feel worthy enough to even attempt to pray... Not sure how to pray? You don't have to be a pastor in order to pray. We want to help you learn how to pray.

There are many of you that have known the Lord, walked with Him and fellowshipped with Him, but due to unforeseen issues in life, and coupled with bad decisions, plus maybe an overwhelming set of tragic occurrences, you may feel like if God has abandoned you, messed up, to put it bluntly, so if that's the case, you say I can't come to Him now in this hour of need and ask for help.

Let me tell you why, you need to hear this and get moving onwards and upwards with the Lord, like right away.

Prayer is just a conversation with God, he is wanting you to come, just as you are. Beat up, guilty, lost, messed up, can't even think right, just plain out of hope and desperate. If you are there, or somewhere in between, you are God's candidate for Him to pick you up and hold you, without shame.

Let's step into this further, if you are a Christian Right now, then you have an absolute right to pray directly to God in the name of Jesus Christ. Prayer involves you to speak, but it includes Him to speak to you as well, which He wants to do. Okay, that sounds good, but what if I am not a Christian? Here's how that works, remember the name of this website, Call Upon The Lord? That's it, that is what you need to do, call out to God, He knows where you are and how you are, at this moment.

Calling upon the Lord will bring you to surrendering your soul to the Lord, and herein is a salvation prayer for you to say. It is on the first page, click the "home " button and you will find the prayer. When you do that, you become a Christian. So therefore, the same goes for you, you have the right right to pray to the Father in JESUS' name.

Will you be good at it? I mean will your prayers be good enough, the answer is yes, of course, God is a God of a tender heart and cares, He knows you are calling upon him with all you have at present.

Fear not, as you grow in your walk, the prayers change and they change a great deal. You will know more and more about how God the Father cares. His direction for your life. You will then graduate to praying for others more effectively, helping them out of their circumstances, because you will have known how prayer changes things and the utmost level of God's plan of love for everyone.

Having said that, let's go further, we pray to hang out with God, when we do, we get help and strength. We learn to intercede for relatives, our children, others. We begin to understand when we read the bible what God has already done, by way of JESUS at the Cross, what this means and how his word concerns our lives. He has a personal will for us, a direction to follow.

Prayer is integral to our lives, no prayer would be the same as driving down a major highway in town without any lights, stop signs, nothing, you are on a destination to end up in a crash. Not so with prayer, He is our only source, period. He gives us strength and power everyday in our life.

JESUS has taken care of every detail of your life, He knows you and where you have been, your weakness and has prepared your future already, you have to only accept His forgiveness and then trust Him with yourself, and your loved ones. Prayer, is the key, you have a invitation to the throne room of God.

I encourage you to develop a prayer life, there aren't any rules, it can be short, long, no particular way, just your own words, thoughts, requests, just get the ball rolling. You can spend time quietly with God, by saying to Him, Lord I am here now to position myself to hear from you, and to draw near to you, speak to me, thank you Lord.

Refer to these scriptures from time to time:

Luke 18:1, "and he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint".

Philippians 4:6, "Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let requests be made known unto God".

Isaiah 55:11, "so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it". (This means God's word, His promises which you have to trust)

Prayer can be frustrating if we don't understand God's word and His ways!

As you grow in the word, as explained herein above, you will learn more of God's ways and certain types of prayers to pray, the following types of prayers are different for different reasons and they are fairly clear. As you read them you will make sense of them as described. Again, let's not be concerned about your beginning prayers, Gods knows what you know at present and your situation, this is a beginning to learn and following these types of prayers, you will find some samples to use, all are learning techniques to better your walk in the Lord.

Most Christians aren't aware that there are several types of prayer discussed in God's Word, and if you use one type when you should be using another, it won't work. You would be applying the wrong spiritual tool to your needs or request. God intended for each of these six forms of prayer mentioned in the Bible to have different functions, as described below.
